Ghostigital
Ghostigital is the realization of a creative collaboration between record producer/artist Curver and Einar Örn, the other singer of late The Sugarcubes. Their internationally released self titled debut has raised many eyebrows these past months, but it is safe to say (and their tremendous reputation supports) that it is in a live setting that the full intensity of Ghostigital can best be experienced.

Hjálmar
Hjálmar plays melodic and soothing reggae music. The band has made quite a name for themselves over the last few months, and was nominated as the best newcomers at the Icelandic music awards last February.

Kimono
Kimono is a Reykjavik-based indie rock troupé which has proven to be one of Iceland´s most promising experimental rock outfits. This was aptfully demonstrated on their Smekkleysa debut, mineur-aggressive, and sound bytes from the unreleased follow up are shrouded in an air of excitement and mystique. At the time of writing, they are holed up in the studio laying final touches on their sophomore effort and carefully planning a forthcoming assault on Europe this summer. They will, however, take the time to entertain guests of “Aldrei fór ég suður”with their patented brand of rocking loveliness.

Skátar
A truly fresh breeze of noise-skronk-rock assault, this five piece band throws Captain Beefheart, Trumans Water, Polvo and various glimpses of eighties post- punk into the blender with astonishing results. Skátar (e. Boy Scouts) were formed in 2001 and current line up is less then one year old, it's members coming from various underground bands. They usually perform dressed up in white overalls (used by painters to protect their clothing), with hoods over their heads.
Be prepared for ear-splitting screechy guitar sound, often-impossible-to-follow drumming, mostly improvised, nervy vocals and an improbable mix of truly experimental music that's also fun to dance to!

Trabant
As the name suggests, this band is formed by as many guys as can be seated in a medium-sized Trabant automobile. The band has played in Iceland and abroad, and is well known by almost any Icelander. Trabant is playing in “Aldrei fór ég suður” for their second time.

Hudson Wayne
Hudson Wayne plays a sort of alternative country music, influenced by British Indy-music. Hudson Wayne is playing on their second “Aldrei fór ég suður” festival and by many their performance last year, was one of the best.

Hraun
Hraun (e.Lava). Almost an unknown band and therefore it could be the surprise package. Many players of the band studied philosophy (or have tried ) in university, so be prepared for something strange…

Mugison
Mugison, the godfather of this festival, capo di tutti capi!! He was THE man in Icelandic pop/rock last year. His sophomore effort, “Mugimama is this monkeymusic?” released last autumn was much acclaimed by both critics and the loving public. Check out www.mugison.com

NineElevens
The Nine Elevens burst into the scene last year with their guitar grinding cock-rock. Considered outdated for at least two decades - something which they've been told REPEATEDLY – they simply choose not to listen. How could they?

Strengjasveit Tónlistarskóla Ísafjarðar
The Ísafjörður Music School String Orchestra is a very young and talented lot that has been performing live on many occasions in Ísafjörður area. Their performance will surely raise an eyebrow or two.

Gruff Rhys
Gruff, the lead singer in the Welsh outfit Super Furry Animals, was having a drink or two with Mugison and this festival was brought to his attention and there was no turning back. His solo album Yr Atal Genhedlaet was released this January.

Sökudólgarnir
Sökudólgarnir (e.The Culprits). A local folk singer moved to the capital and came back a full fledged front man in his very own rock band! Not bad.

Burn off
We don´t know much about this band except they are from Akranes in the South. Well, the drummer is from Ísafjörður so they must be good! They wanted so badly to play on the festival for the sake of good old fun, that we couldn´t say no.

Húsið á sléttunni
New band from Ísafjörður with Birgir Olgeirsson as the lead singer. His voice is really extrasterestrial, even Robert Plant sounds like a beginner...! Anyway, the band has not played much in public and we´re all looking forward to see them on stage with their new material.

Jassband Villa Valla
Villi Valli is a one of a kind guy. He´s been a barber in Ísafjörður since the last Ice Age and started playing saxophone and piano around the age of sixteen. Now in his seventies, he´s never been better, performing his own jazz tunes with his loyal crowd of musicians. Secret guest will also perform with band. So, come and see!

Siggi Björns
Siggi Björns is from Flateyri village, close to Ísafjörður. He´s been on the road for years performing all over Europe, Australia and other far away and dark places. Between his road trips, he comes back to Flateyri to get a taste of the salty sea that has always meant so much to him. Siggi Björns – a true son of Mother Nature.

Apollo
Young band from Ísafjörður that also performed at last “Aldrei fór ég suður”. Possibly the band is most famous now for their Idol singing lead singer who made it well into top ten.

Írafár
Probably the most famous dance bands in Iceland in recent years. The lead singer, Birgitta Haukdal is the favourite pop star among the teenagers and an Barbie doll has even been made with her sweet looking face.

Stafrænn Hákon
Stafrænn Hákon is a true blue-collar worker created by God´s hands. His
gens can quite easily be traced to Brussels. Stafrænn Hákon AKA Ólafur
Josephsson has been composing music for quite a while. Ever since he
received a jeep early in 2001 and until he digitised a valve and a paper bag
in the year 2004, he has been keeping busy writing music. In between he
went into the state of mind of the ptarmigan and splashed some vinegar on
his little fox, let´s not forget how he knitted hoummus which is considered
a very creative task. Stafrænn hasn´t been so busy playing for his fellow
Icelanders for the last few years, whereas he´s based abroad. But now the
opportunity is here to hear the endearing tailor from Breiðholt (The Wide
Mountains in Reykjavik) creating atmospheric tones which he produces with his ankles.

Lack of Talent
The phoenix-like Lack of talent recently rose from the ashes of fabled and much missed Ísafjörður act Spaztískur Raunveruleiki. Those who have witnessed their youthful exuberance are quoted as saying that the band’s name is quite a misnomer, them actually possessing buckets of talent contrary to what it indicates. Lack of talent is the youngest rock band performing at this years festival and promises to be a worthy representation of the future of Ísafjörður rock ‘n’ roll.

Nilfisk
Nilfisk are a very good Swedish vacuum cleaners. It´s also a very talented young band coming from the southern lowlands. Their one night fame was probably when Dave Grohl asked them to perform with Foo Fighters on a concert in Reykjavik two years ago. Well done Nilfisk!

BMX
Like cut out from NME or Rolling Stone mags, the local band BMX knows what it takes to unleash the rock n´roll beast in all of us. They have not performed for a while and it´ll be fun to listen to what comes out this time.

Karlakórinn Ernir
The male quire Ernir is from Ísafjörður and they have trained herd for the event. The quire has performed all over Iceland, Wales, Finland and Russia.

Reykjavík!
The foundations of Reykjavík! were laid in the fall of 2003, when two philosophy students and hedonists teamed up for an acoustic songwriting project under the monicker ‘The TenderBoys’. Several drunken nights later, the boys decided their chosen acoustic format didn’t clash well with their hedonistic lifestyles and rugged clothing, so they decided to co-opt some of their friends and neighbors to play a more fun-filled, rockin’ beat in a style that seems to be sweeping the western world off it’s feet these days. Modern! was the style in which they would play, dress and live – and they do so, with the help of various electrical gadgets; high-fashion clothing and the steady beat of heavy traffic! Mission: accomplished!
Now, almost a year into the life of Reykjavík!, international superstardom beckons this steadily growing, stylish organism, following appearances in places such as London, Kópavogur and the famous Tjöruhús.

Paul Lydon
Sometimes, as in the case of Mr. Paul Lydon, it’s best to let the music do the talking. If there was an ounce of sense to this mad, mad, mad world, every home should have at least one copy of his magnificent album Vitlaust hús. Were that the case planet Earth would without a doubt be a more peaceful place, such is the power of his soothing brilliance. It is safe to predict that his appearance at this years “Aldrei fór ég suður” will be one of the high points of a festival that already has it’s fair share of musical talent.

Jói/701
International playboy and all ‘round nice guy Sevenhundredandone (which is calculator for “Jói”) is a native of Ísafjörður and a purebred head-breaking tough guy. He has been busy these past few years and is now in the process of completing his fourth full-length album. His music is best described as a tantalizing mixture of electronic noises and guitar-plucks, although in reality it defies categorization of any sort. Well, most sorts. \7ói was a big success at last years “Aldrei fór ég suður” festival and will without a doubt make a triumphant return this Easter; his performance should not be missed.

Borkó
Bearded Borkó is an enigma wrapped in a mystery. Such is his mysteriousness that, up until now, only a very fortunate few have had the chance to hear his music. But those who do rarely forget that lascivious moment when they first encountered the sweet sounds of Borkó. And now that he has finally decided to shed his mystique and perform a live set in Ísafjörður, you should be most sorry to miss it.

Þórir
Wunderkind Þórir is a dedicated musician who splits his time between playing guitar in youth core band Fighting Shit and his self-titled solo project, which is an altogether sweeter affair, he cites such influences as Owen (Mike Kinsella of American Football fame), Nick Drake and Will Oldham. He released his debut album via 12 Tónar last fall and has had a considerable success ever since, owing in part to his creative re-working of Outkast hit “Hey Ya”. Look him up at: www.rokk.is

Tristian
Tristian is probably one of Iceland’s best kept secrets. Among their members is talented songwriter Pétur Benediktsson (who co-wrote the haunting “Murr murr” on Mugisons latest album), word has it that his lesser known bandmates are no less wealthy in the talent department. Having just missed last years “Aldrei fór ég suður”festival, it is a real pleasure to be able to present their skills this time around.

Dr. Lýður
This guy is truly a jack of many trades. The main occupation of Lýður is being the physician of the people in Flateyri, a small village close to Ísafjörður. But it seems that almost everything he touches, works for some reason. It doesn´t matter if it´s music, organising festivals, directing movies or something else. Truly a man of many talents.
